2026 Swedish general election
General elections were held in Sweden on 13 September 2026 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag, alongside municipal and regional elections. The incumbent government was a minority government led by Ulf Kristersson of the Moderate Party (M), Christian Democrats (KD), and Liberals (L), with the external support of the Sweden Democrats (SD) under the Tidö Agreement. It was the first general election since Sweden joined NATO in 2024 and resulted in the left-leaning opposition winning a narrow parliamentary majority.
